Trust no one, Love everyone. Treat all with compassion. Expect nothing in return. Do not be surprised if your kindness is returned with treachery, indifference, or kindness. It is rare that those with power will risk anything to help anyone with no chance of gain. If you are allied with an entity, be wary of situations in which you could potentially no longer be beneficial to that entity, especially if it is in a position of authority. Consider the emotional state, the background, the age, the experience of the people you interact with. A corporation has no conscience, only ledgers and balances. Don't trust any business, government, organized religion, institution, or relationship which requires the abandonment of individuality to share your interests. When possible, own your own means of production. Gather as much knowledge as you can. Relate it to what you already know. Don't be afraid to own things: possessions are tools and are valuable in non-material way. However, do not become attached to having. All things pass, so why be surprised when it happens?
Do not compromise on your own happiness. Do not be self indulgent. Take the time to do things right, to plan before you act.
Remember to connect with people as people and not as their social functions. A cashier is a person just as a cop or a criminal, regardless of color, creed, or culture. You reap what you sow: your attitudes and actions will shape the way the world interacts with you. Study the art of war. Study machiavelli. Study buddha. Explore the furthest corners of human experience, and then forget them.
Believe in yourself. Listen to your instincts & emotions, but do not be a slave to them. If you have a vision, don't be afraid to share it. Don't be afraid to listen. If you are true to yourself you will find yourself in the place and around the people where you belong. Accepting what lies within is the map to finding your dharma-way.
You only live once, but if you do make it tomorrow, the things you do today will continue to resonate.
Fear nothing. Fear is the opposite of love. Fear is the tool of wickedness. Fear is the spawn of doubt and the corruption of faith. If you know that you are honest, true, and righteous, fear will have no meaning. Learn to love, and to express that love in the proper way, and that love will come back to you. This is the essence of karma.

2013 so far
Twenty Thirteen - New year's back in CA, gettin' stoned with the McKinley boys. Liz off with her folks visiting her Papa Frank in Chico. I moved the shop in to 811 Carleton St., Berkeley: the Macaulay foundry, supposedly the oldest ironworks on the west coast. First the shop was in a shipping container, then a prefab office, shared with Alan Grizzell, who's studio is in the back. Trevor West and Greg Choy stop by once in a while. Recording four songs in the basement studio with Dave Polk: The Ballad of Susie Q, 74 Matador, Can You Feel Me, and Sink Or Swim.
I went to Cincinnati for Dad's 60th birthday. It was a surprise, conspired with mama. I woke him up on the morning of his birthday after flying in on a red-eye. I was there for two weeks. Dad got two porsche 924s from Ryan's dad Kent. One runs and the other is a parts car. The running one is an 1984 Weissach. I visited Bob at the BMV. It was sleeting or snowing and shitty out pretty much the whole time I was there. It was great spending time with Mom & Dad. Olivia was even there for a couple of days between jet-setting from DC and Austin! I miss my folks. I got to see Brad Duban, Glen Eric & Leila, and even Nancy P. I hosted my first ever 4 track club - Sonic Elf and DJ JJJJJJ were the sole attending members, with Chad Cully & and a couple of his friends as spectators, along with my parents.
When I got back, Liz and I went to Joshua Tree and Death Valley for spring break with Taylor Meizlish and Kaori - saw lots of desert flora and fauna. Reminded me of our awesome Thanksgiving trip to Bridgeport and the hot springs there (burners and russian babes on e getting naked and freaking out Kaori). Coming back from slab city we got searched by border patrol - k9 and everything - but they let us go after running our I.D.s.
We've been suing the landlord thru Oaklands Rent Adjustment program for three months of no heat, bad wiring, leaky windows and general shittiness. Work work work...tryin' not to stress the medical stuff.
